The School Day

Before School

Children are not to ride bikes or scooters within the school grounds.Pupils are expected to be on the playground by 8:45 am but not before 8:30 amParents and carers should escort the children to the appropriate playground and should wait with them until the classes are collected.

Children are expected to wait with an adult and not to play with/or on any apparatus, bikes or scooters.  Please help to enforce this expectation with parents and children.
We encourage the children to begin lining up quietly before the bell. Parents are encouraged to say goodbye to their child in the playground before they are collected by a member of staff.
KS1/ EYFS parents need to be actively encouraged to leave their children in the line as soon as the bell goes, so that they can be brought into school calmly and safely.
All classes are collected from the playground by their class teacher. We expect staff to come out at least 5 minutes before the bell to be available to parents.
Teachers accompany their children from the playground into their classrooms to prepare for registration.  They should walk into school in a quiet and orderly manner.

Wet mornings

These procedures are only to be used in case of very wet weather or snow.

The decision to use wet morning procedures will be made by the Principal.
After that decision has been made the blue door opposite the main gate will be opened to allow children access to the hall.  The door will not be opened before 8.40 am
Reception class children will make their way straight to their class rooms, during the Autumn Term but will go to the hall in the Spring and Summer Terms. Nursery children will be let in through the Nursery doors in the Quad.  As far as possible parents will be encouraged to leave their children at the outside door and not enter the building.
Prefects should support younger children to find their classes.
A member of SLT will man the door and direct children to Mrs Ellis and other members of SLT in the hall.   On wet mornings class teachers and TAs need to be in the hall by 8.45 am.
All class teachers (including Year 5 and 6) need to collect their children from the hall promptly at 8.50 am

Attendance registers are taken electronically each morning and afternoon and are closed 10 minutes after the session starts.

Any child arriving at the Academy after 8:50 am (once the bell has gone) should go via the main office where they will then be registered as a late arrival. You will also need to register children arriving late between 8:52 am and 9:00 am electronically.
